Allergies and chronic conditions are becoming epidemic...

Over 50 million Americans suffer from allergies.  Allergies rank #6 in causes for chronic conditions and they continue to be on the rise.

There are many theories as to why there is an allergy epidemic.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there are more pollutants and modified plant pollens in the air than ever before.  Grains have been modified to yield bigger and more profitable crops.  Produce is grown in soil that has been stripped of nutrients with pesticides and chemicals.  Animal protein sources are raised on foods that they were never intended to eat, that has been laced with antibiotics and hormones.  We don't even want to go down the processed food road that is paved with additives, chemicals and dyes.  There isn't much we eat or drink that looks like it did when our ancestors were thriving.

In addition, we live in a fragrant and chemically clean world.  We absorb chemicals, perfumes and all kinds of toxins from personal hygiene products, our cleaning products and even our laundry soaps and softeners through our skin and respiratory tract.

So what does this have to do with chronic illness and disease?

Untreated or unidentified allergies can be an initial phase to an overactive immune system.  Call it an allergy, sensitivity or intolerance, but it's simply our body identifying something as harmful and triggering an immune response in order to protect us.  Since we live in a very modified, chemically treated world, our bodies react negatively to more and more things.  This keeps our immune system busy and can ultimately lead to it being overworked, compromised and weak.  A compromised immune system is less effective at fighting off illness, leaves our body unprotected from viruses, bacteria and can ultimately begin targeting our own body as the enemy.

Most of us either suffer from allergies ourselves or know someone that does.  Sneezing, sinus congestion and drainage, chronic sinus infections, diarrhea, intestinal cramping and hives are just a few of the common symptoms associated with immediate response allergies.  Many are not aware of the impact that delayed response allergies have on their health.   Headaches, joint and muscle pain, gastric distress, heartburn, skin rashes, autoimmune disorders, anxiety, hyperactivity disorders, mood swings, urinary symptoms are just a few of the many health issues that may be a result of allergies to foods, toxins or environmental factors that you are exposed to on a daily basis.
